The famous Brussels Carpet of Flowers Weekend. It only comes round every 2 years and the Grand Place, often described as the most beautiful Square in the World, is where you'll see it. Covering an area of 300 square meters this spectacular sight is the work of flower growers from Ghent, the great specialists in growing begonias. The flowers offer a rich range of vivid and glowing colours and are hardy against the hot sun after being cut because the craftsmen assemble them directly on the cobblestones of the square, without a layer of earth. This marvellous, multi-coloured plant tapestry can be admired best from the balcony of the City Hall, open to visitors during the weekend.
